Holidays in Term Time
The St Francis of Assisi Academies Trust of which St Gregory's is part, has a policy not to authorise any absence during term time. Whilst this policy is enforced at St Gregory's, every request is also looked at on an individual basis, taking into account your child's own attendance levels and length of intended absence.
In addition to this, the law states that,
"As of 2013 Head teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Head teachers should determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted".
If you choose to take your child out of school during term time you must accept that it will be unauthorised and a Fixed Penalty Fine also will be incurred.
All absences are monitored daily and during register checks with the Education Welfare Officer. A child whose attendance falls below 88% may be referred to the Education Welfare Officer as a cause for concern as any amount of absence may be detrimental to your child's education.
Please note that any absence of 20 school days (4 weeks) would result in your child being removed from the school roll.
